Pinboard is a bookmarking site that functions much like Delicious did back in the day, and the [pinboard.in profile] fancake account has every rec ever made on the comm, all tagged with fandoms, pairings, characters, length, themes, reccer, creator, and if the work in question is a non-fic rec (podfic, fanart, meta, etc).

On the comm, recs are only tagged with fandom, length, theme, and if they're a non-fic fanwork. If you're only looking for ALL the due South recs or ALL the amnesia recs, the tags on Dreamwidth work fine.

If you want to combine more than one tag and see all the due South amnesia recs, for example, you can do that on Dreamwidth, but it's much, much easier on Pinboard. Let me show you how:

First select a tag from the list in the sidebar. You may need to click on "all tags" to see them all. They're formatted the same way as the tags on the comm, but without spaces. Let's click on fandom:due.south:

Screenshot of Fancake's tags on Pinboard.

That's all the recs for due South. We've got 86 of them so far.

Now, visit the sidebar again and you'll note it's a little different. It says "related tags," and they're arranged in more of a cloud formation. These are all the tags that this particular set of bookmarks uses.

Screenshot of related tags, loosely arranged in a cloud.

Some tags are bigger than others because they're more common. You can now pick one of them to further narrow down the field. Each tag has an icon next to it, a plus sign inside a circle.

Click on the little ⊕ after the tag you want. (If you click on the tag itself, it will just take you to that tag.)

Let's add theme:amnesia.

Screenshot of related tags with the icon next to theme:amnesia highlighted.

Now we've got all the bookmarks tagged fandom:due.south and theme:amnesia, all three of them. If you get lost, the top of the page will tell you what tags you're filtering on, and you'll note that's also where you can sort the page by date or title.

If you want to remove due South from the search and replace it with MCU, you can head over to the tag sidebar and click on the tag you want to remove or hit the ⊖ (minus sign inside a circle) that follows it. That tag will be removed from the filter. Now, once you've removed due South you've got all the amnesia recs. To limit it to MCU, find the fandom:marvel.cinematic.universe tag in the sidebar and click on the ⊕ icon. And voilà you've got recs for seven works where people in the MCU can't remember who they are. Seems like that number should be higher, but amnesia was one of the comm's very first themes. (If you're a fan of amnesia, we'll have a chance to revisit early themes during next year's Flashback rounds!)

Unlike Dreamwidth, on Pinboard you can join up to four tags to really narrow down your search. Just keep adding tags by clicking on the ⊕ icon. But beware: If you attempt to add a fifth tag, it'll add that tag, but it will also silently remove the first tag you chose. Here's where that breadcrumb menu at the top of the page will come in handy to make sure you're looking at the results you want.

You don't need to have a Pinboard account to use the site. Anyone can search or filter [pinboard.in profile] fancake's bookmarks, but if you are a Pinboard user, you can easily save Fancake's bookmarks to your own account with the "copy to mine" link that's below each bookmark. The bookmarks won't always be synced up with the comm, as I have to add each rec manually, but I try to update them at least once a week.

If you have any questions about how to use Fancake's Pinboard account, just ask!

omg, you must read "Fan Is A Tool-Using Animal"
https://idlewords.com/talks/fan_is_a_tool_using_animal.htm

This is a talk given by the founder of Pinboard, and is the story of pinboard, it's predecessor del.isio.us, and how fandom and slash killed the latter and brought tons of users to the former.

It's wonderful, it's a guy who isn't in fandom but respected it and how that paid off for him. Plus, it's about fans and data and fanfic and slash. :)
