Summary: All children who have traveled know that doors can open from world to world, but only some know that doors can open within the same world, across distance and across time. Sarah was about to find one of those doors.

Reccer's Notes: This fic is a brief but interesting look at the similar portal-world experiences for Sarah and Susan, and what it might be like if they had a chance to talk to someone else who could understand their mixed feelings in a way no one else around them can. Knowledge of the canons isn't really required beyond knowing Sarah, Susan, and Alice went to other worlds and came back, and might have some remaining trauma related to what happened to them in those places.

Summary: For lurkingcat, who gave me the plotbunny when she said There's going to be a very unhappy Goblin out there if Neville's got that sword...

And where there are goblins, there are Goblin Kings.

Reccer's Notes: Great idea for a crossover, well executed, and I love the way Augusta Longbottom is written.

And every one shall share i' the gains;
And now about the cauldron sing,
Live elves and fairies in a ring,
Enchanting all that you put in.
...
By the pricking of my thumbs,
Something wicked this way comes.

Summary: The eve of Sarah's twenty-first birthday falls on the night of Beltane, a night when the borders between the physical and magical world become blurred, and a certain Goblin King reappears with an offer to renew, and won't be taking no for an answer…

Reccer's Notes: This is an older rec that I recently reacquainted myself with. It's still very readable, and the ending packs a great punch. Don't click the spoiler theme just read iiiiittt.

Summary: Jareth made a promise to the girl he can never forget. It requires him to do a lot of things for her little brother... Toby wishes he wouldn't do them.

Reccer's Notes: I know. This is a very rare pairing, but bear with me. The worldbuilding is fantastic and the many characters lovable and believable. Sarah isn’t forgotten or ignored, but this is a story that asks what is happening after her. How do they live with her shadow? And grow beyond her.

The main part of the Story plays over 20 years after the Labyrinth Movie.

Summary: Five times Sarah drunk-called Jareth. One time he sobered her up.

Reccer's Notes: I can't overstate the charm of this story. The premise seems crack-ish but is made to feel totally feasible in-universe. Sarah's disastrous post-Labyrinth love life leads to an unexpected, slow and somehow endearing courtship by Jareth.

Summary: What’s said is said, and Sarah said, “My Will is as Strong as Yours and my Kingdom as Great.” And then, of course, she lied.

Reccer's Notes: This story takes some of the lines in the movie that don't make sense, and uses them to do a great twist on the "Sarah and Jareth are destined to be together as soon as Sarah grows up!" trope.  There's a lot of skeevy power dynamics in Labyrinth, and in an unfortunate amount of its fic. One of the things I appreciate most about this fic is that it has a Sarah/Jareth relationship that doesn't ping my creep-dar at all. Also, the world-building is great, and I love the interactions. I only wish there were more of it.

Summary:
"How much do you know about legends?" the man asked abruptly.
Brian shrugged. "There's lots. They involve magic."
"No, they involve fear."

Reccer's Notes: This fic pics up several years after the movie Labyrinth. In it we find Sarah as a student in college majoring in drama. Her school's about to put on a play of the book "Labyrinth". This attracts Jareth's attention hearing his name said so frequently in one spot. He goes to investigate and this starts off a whole new adventure for Sarah.

The author manages to take what we had seen in the original labyrinth, to add and expand on the mythos, background and legends of its workings and origins. Familiar characters are still familiar and some characters we saw glimpses of in the movie are brought to the forefront to be given life and depth. This story to me seems to surpass the movie. If there was ever a sequel to have been made for the movie this would be it.

Reccer's Notes:  Labyrinth was a favorite movie when I was a kid, and so there are several epic sequels.  They almost all include Sarah going back to the Labyrinth for one reason or another, and this is one of the ones I come back to.  I enjoy the story, the characterizations, and the way it deals with issues the movie just ignored.

Summary: 1933. Frank's been on the run a long time and he's forced to stop in his old hometown. At first things are about what he expects - old friends, unpleasant memories, and a less-than-desirable home life. Everything changes one night when he stumbles on an old hedge maze hidden in the woods. It's not the hedge maze that intrigues him the most, though, but the secrets of the house hidden inside.

Reccer's Notes: This story pulls you into a stark and strange reality from the start. Nothing seems quite right, but you feel compelled to keep reading anyway. It's mysterious and intriguing to the end. I don't want to say a lot more because the story is better if not much is given away, just trust that as odd and confusing as it all may seem, it will be okay at the end. :) Also, the descriptions in the story are very visual, which I love. I often felt as if I was reading a painting.
