Rating: Gen to Teen (for language)

Theme: Series, Crack, Families of Choice, Humor, Animals, Urban Fantasy

Summary: Euglossia watsonia bees are intelligent, profane, and fiercely loyal to their namesake.

Reccer's Notes: Crack that doesn't feel like crack. I mean, if you had intelligent, New York bees that could communicate with one person, any of these stories are quite believable. And since Euglossia Watsonia bees are a whole new breed, anything is possible. (It's also a hoot to see them regard Joan as top dog, and Sherlock as the not-quite-totally-useless drone. <g>)

Content Notes: A few dangerous situations, some bees die.

Theme: Polyamory, Threesome- M/M/F

Summary: Marcus gets along really well with Holmes' friends.

Reccer's Notes: I already loved all three of these characters and this fic quickly won me over to this ship. I love their Marcus voice, and the way the relationship unfolds with Alfredo and then Ms Hudson and then finally the three of them together. Sherlock and Joan in the background were fun additions as well.

Summary: At first, Curtis Atherton's death appeared a simple suicide. Of course, nothing is simple when the Bastard is involved.

Reccer's Notes: This fic (and the remix/sequel) do a wonderful job of bringing the World of the Five Gods (Chalionverse) into the modern world and marrying them with Elementary. Great worldbuilding.

Summary: Between the bees, the chickens and Clyde, it's practically a menagerie in the brownstone. OR: Five times Sherlock brought home a stray and one time Joan did.

Reccer's Notes: I'm so fond of Sherlock and his habit of taking in strays, and this gives me all the ferrets and pigs and bad-idea hedgehogs I could want, with a lovely Joan & Sherlock friendship, and Marcus being perfect even while covered in spider. Contains spider; off-screen animal harm.

Summary: "Once I've figured you out, I'll move on." It's a year after Moriarty last saw Joan. And she hasn't moved on.

Reccer's Notes: Written for the last Rare Ship Swap, here Moriarty finds a way to set herself up with Joan on a date. Of course, Moriarty being Moriarty, she doesn't ask for that date in a straightforward manner.

Summary: "Sherlock asked me to set up some deductive reasoning scenarios this week. I set up some problems - how has the room changed and what can be deduced from those changes, how does décor reflect personality, that sort of thing." "He did. Of course he did." Joan presses her fingers to her forehead. "Have you been here long?"

Reccer's Notes: Some romances are great romances for the ages, and sometimes you just hit it off and want to have fun in bed. This is one of the latter, and I love how sweet and casual everything is.

Summary: Once upon a time, the woman who calls herself Moriarty meets a second-year surgical resident: this is how the story would start, were it known to anyone that the woman who calls herself Moriarty does not work alone.

(This is not the story.)

Reccer's Notes: A well done, clever canon AU: what if Joan met Moriarty before she met Sherlock? And I love how their relationship is written in this fic.

Summary: If Moriarty were Napoleon, she'd be her Waterloo. Sherlock, her Austerlitz.

Reccer's Notes: Even though they're enemies, somehow Joan and Moriarty are able to meet. And even though they meet regularly, their dynamic stays the same; there is no neat fairy tale ending. I love this fic for keeping the dynamic same between Joan and Moriarty while they pursue their romance.

Summary: "Joan thinks she should be less surprised by his sudden, “Watson, we’re getting married!” and yet, here she is, cooking her egg and trying not to be astonished." Infants are vanishing, and Sherlock and Joan go undercover as a married couple to find their kidnappers.

Reccer's Notes:  I much prefer Joan and Sherlock as friends rather than lovers, but I have to rec this story anyway, because it sold me on the idea of them as a couple, at least for the duration of the fic.  The case isn't bad, but mostly, it's a darn good take on the "undercover married" trope.

Summary:  In which Joan does not attempt an intervention.

Reccer's Notes:  This is such a great portrait of Joan and Sherlock's relationship, and it shows everything I love about the two of them in just over 1,000 words.  It's set towards the end of Joan's time as sober companion but before she becomes a detective, and you can see her on the cusp of it.  She doesn't coddle Sherlock, and Sherlock doesn't need coddling.  The two of them are friends, and that friendship is in the process of transforming from surface niceties and professionalism to something deeper.

Reccer's Notes: This is a very seamless fusion of two fandoms that are nothing alike. It works because Sherlock (though somewhat younger than in the TV show) is very IC. I love the nods to service (such as bringing Joan her clothes) that have become canon in Elementary.

Joan's annoyed expression is funny. I'm tickled pink to see Clyde ready to take on the day's challenges too. :P

Reccer's Notes:  I love Joan Watson, for her strength, her adaptability, and her competence.  (The fact that she is played by the awesome Lucy Liu helps, too.)  This is one of my favorite Elementary fics, showcasing Joan and Sherlock's friendship through the years.  Very well written, true to the characters, so much fun.  And there are bees!

Reccer's Notes: KINKY GEN. AKA, non-sexual kink. There's so little of it out there, that I might rec it solely because of that, but Night is also a gifted writer with a talent for capturing both a character's voice and their emotional center.
