Summary: Arthur has been with the Cobbs for years. He is either their nanny or the third parent. He's known Eames almost as long, and it's been a long time since antagonism and misunderstandings fell away, leaving other things behind: professional respect, physical attraction, and the knowledge that the other is a good man in a storm.
In light of this, when Arthur finds himself with an egg after a long, lazy weekend spent with Eames, he has a pretty abbreviated panic-cycle before he lands on: I guess it's time to tell Eames, and fetches himself a rental car.

Reccer's Notes: So I was on the fence about reccing this. It starts and builds up Arthur and the Cobbs relationships early on. And puts Arthur into the kind of situation where he is forces to seperate himself from the Cobbs. And thus be gets to be the outside party that knows them well enough to see the trap of the forth level and realize what's going on with Mal. So that she gets a chance to heal and call
Dom out for trying to trick her out of Limbo. The author tags it as "Mal and Dom live by working out their problems AU"

But all of this is building alongside a very different AU concept. Where everybody has the ability to have children by laying eggs. So while it fills the emotional beats I look for in Everybody Lives Aus. People grow and communicate and build their lives to good places. You should definitely not walk into the fic expecting a straight canon world.
