apatheia_jane: Post Gospers Mtn megafire, eucalypts resprouting from burnt ground (violently happy)

Fandom: SGA
Pairing: Rodney McKay/John Sheppard/Ronon Dex
Length: 100k+, in 8 parts, plus bonus tracks & epilogues.
Author Links: If there's a complete archive up of hth's work, I don't know about it. But there's some at gatefiction, AO3, & lj, including more poly.
Theme: Polyamory
Summary:
Alpha Centauri is a trinary star system composed of a primary pair of yellow dwarfs (Alpha Centauri A and B) gravitationally bound to an outlying red dwarf (Proxima Centauri).

These stories are a lot like that.

Reccer's Notes:
I don't know where to start on this. I can't think of another series I've ever become so obsessive about, including pro fic. It is poly done exceptionally well, sexy and character-focused. None of the characters are great at emotional intimacy, and sometimes they're not particularly consistent, and jealousy and selfishness and desire all make appearances. They care about one another and don't want to hurt each other, but they don't always know how to do that. But mostly, they're trying to figure out how to fit around one another, while also dealing with all the shit that is involved in being Pegasus residents. The other highlight of this story for me is Ronon's characterisation and backstory, and the obvious fondness he has for Rodney.

Hi. Just discovered this community thanks to a mention by [personal profile] melusina. So, here's my first attempt at an entry:

Fandom: Psych
Pairing: Shawn Spencer/Burton Guster/Abigail Lytar
Length: 327 words
Author Links: [archiveofourown.org profile] Missy / [personal profile] bring_me_sugar / [livejournal.com profile] rise_your_dead
Theme: Polyamory
Summary: Gus, Abigail and Shawn form an unlikely but highly functional threesome.

Reccer's Notes: "Just Worked" was my favorite entry from Porn Battle XI (ergo, realize that it's rated Mature). It's a Shawn/Gus/Abigail threesome fic that left me an incoherent mess when I first read it (in the best possible sense) of: "THIS!" "Wow!" and "Yes, please!"

Now that I've calmed down enough to articulate complete sentences, I'll mention that I adore how in-character this porn is. I like that Gus *of course* has a list of ground rules and that Shawn is worried about messing up his hair during a threeway. There's also a real sweetness and warmth to how the author writes this dynamic.

Fandom: Leverage
Pairing: Eliot Spencer/Parker/Alec Hardison
Length: approx. 4100 words
Author Links: [archiveofourown.org profile] aces / [personal profile] wishfulaces / [livejournal.com profile] wishfulaces
Theme: Polyamory
Summary: Alec Hardison, if pressed, would probably suggest that he subscribes to a post-modern definition of identity.

Reccer's Notes: Raksha recced this at Snarkfest, and she really gave the perfect description: "This is a Hardison character piece focusing on how he came to understand himself and his sexuality through fandom. So many nerdy references! Great Hardison voice, really well written."

The only thing I can add is that the second-to-last paragraph brought tears to my eyes, because it encompasses why, despite the occasional headaches and aggravation, I love fandom so very much.

Fandom: Doctor Who/White Collar crossover
Pairing: Ninth Doctor/Rose Tyler/Jack Harkness; Neal Caffrey/Peter Burke/Elizabeth Burke
Length: Approx 725 words.
Author Links: [archiveofourown.org profile] Lefaym / [personal profile] lefaym / [livejournal.com profile] lefaym
Theme: Polyamory & Crossover/Fusion
Summary: Neal overhears a conversation in a diner.

Reccer's Notes: Neal Caffrey. He's a man who would appreciate the classics, be they men's business suits or lox and cream cheese on a bagel. So, it's not a surprise to find him in a New York City diner, when he overhears a man with an accent from the North of England boast to his two companions--a blonde woman and a good-looking American--that, in the future, this cafe will be legendary for its bagels. This eavesdropping leads to a surprisingly legitimate business endeavor for Neal. Peter would be proud. Maybe. Or arrest him for insider knowledge.

Pairing: Bob/Gerard/Lindsey/Alicia, past Mikey/Alicia
Length: 14,920 words
Author Links: [personal profile] tuesdaysgone / [livejournal.com profile] tuesdaysgone / [archiveofourown.org profile] tuesdaysgone
Theme: Polyamory
Summary: Gerard and Bob are back from the war. Lindsey, Gerard's wife, and Alicia, Mikey's widow, have been sharing a house. Things get complicated.

Reccer's Notes: A wonderful post-Ghost of You AU that's sad and melancholic but with an ending that's full of hope. The atmosphere and setting feel very true to the period and are written in a quiet, understated way that makes it all feel very real and solid. The characterisations and the way their complex relationships grow and change are fantastic. A beautiful and fabulous story.

Fandom: Bandom
Pairing: Frank/Gerard/Mikey/Ray, Bob/Frank/Gerard/Mikey/Ray
Length: 45,460 words & 2 short fics of 1,730 and 506 words
Author Links: [personal profile] turps / [livejournal.com profile] turps33 / [archiveofourown.org profile] turps
Theme: Polyamory
Summary: A story set in the Killjoys universe. About love, trust, and finding the people you need. Bob finds a crashed motorbike and an unconcious, badly hurt Killjoy in the desert and brings them home. This is just the beginning of his dealings with the Killjoys.

Reccer's Notes: I love how the Killjoys, and the way they're opening up to Bob, are written in this story. The Bob characterisation is also superb. The story as a whole is a wonderful exploration of the tension between self-sufficiency and the need for love and family.
