Theme: Apocalypse/Dystopia; Mythical Creatures (Zombies)
Summary: "Seriously, Gus, Night of the Living Dead lied to me. 28 Days Later is nothing but a web of falsehood and deceit!"

Reccer's Notes: This fic captures the quirky fun tone of the show perfectly. I love it so much that Shawn and Gus's main concern with the zombie apocalypse is that it is nothing like the movies. The reaction is so *them*. I also adore how the zombie is a mere inconvenience that is distracting Shawn from his smoothie (pineapple flavored, of course).

Theme: Apocalypse/Dystopia; Crossovers/Fusions; Mythical Creatures (Angels/Demons); Mythical Creatures (Vampires); Science Fiction
Summary: N/A

Reccer's Notes: [livejournal.com profile] andrastewhite is one of those fantastic fic writers whose work I keep meaning to rec -- but then I get distracted by something shiny. In this story, Giles and Pearse meet, post-Apocalypse. Anyone who know both fandoms can immediately see that these two would be kindred spirits. [livejournal.com profile] andrastewhite ratches that concept up a notch by setting this story after Armageddon, where they are two of the few still fighting the good fight. Also, there's tea.

Pairing: Gen
Length: 2,323 words
Author Links: faviconamalnahurriyeh
Theme: Apocalypse & Dystopia, Mythical Creatures: Zombies
Summary: No one had ever expected a critical theory conference to end so poorly. The worst you could usually expect was that someone would get wine thrown on them.

Reccer's Notes: C. Wright Mills and Michel Foucault fight zombies from the back of Mills' motorcycle.

Yes, that is the summary of this story. IT IS AWESOME, full of academic back-biting, sociology snark, Foucault being a jerk, Mills being patient, and one of the best stories that came out of Yuletide 2010.

Theme: Apocalypse & Dystopia; Mythical Creatures: Werewolves; Rare Pairings
Summary: Viktor is always searching for something, even at the end of the world.

Reccer's Notes: This story is a beautiful nightmare of a fairy tale. Written for Apocalyptothon 2006, this dark and lovely story has all the things I want in my fic, including Hermione Being Awesome and Terrifying, as well as Viktor being a Knight Errant In Love (to his doom).

Summary: Nothing lasts forever. A coda to Big Finish #91: Circular Time - Autumn, by Paul Cornell.

Reccer's Notes: The Fifth Doctor comforts Nyssa after her home planet has been destroyed. This story is full of irony and, um, retro-foreshadowing, in light of the events of the new series.
