Summary: When Steve Rogers disappeared into the ice, Peggy Carter considered it her duty to stand watch over the daughter Steve never knew he had. She watched from a distance, ensuring Steve’s legacy was safe, extending her watch to Steve’s grandson.
As her mental faculties declined, she charged the only person she truly trusted, Phil Coulson, to continue her vigil. Project codename: Sentry.
When Tony DiNozzo vanishes off the streets of D.C, Phil forces Fury to take him to see Steve Rogers so they can enlist the aid of the Avengers in finding Steve’s grandson.

Reccer's Notes: Long and detailed and multi-layered. The author states they they didn't like "the direction they took Steve Rogers in the MCU franchise," and wrote the story to "put him on a different path before he goes completely off the ethical rails." She succeeded incredibly well, twisting MCU canon to fix the problematic aspects, with smart! competent! Tony DiNozzo as the catalyst that helps everyone deal with their pasts and all their changing circumstances... including the new powers that he himself has acquired. Settle in for a thoroughly satisfying and rattlin' good read.

Previously recc'd in Dec, 2021, for amnesty.

Summary: "So, uh," Wharton said, with a little nervous cough. "You're not so much his mathematician as you are his—mathematician."

Reccer's Notes: Oops - I posted this without checking other recent recs, and just noticed that starwatcher beat me to it! So I'll make this a rec for the podfic instead. :) The story really is about competence, as well as UST resolved, and adventure. I think that's why I like it so much - the way they're both so damn competent in different ways. First Rodney's the man with a plan and John tags along, then at Rodney's flat we see evidence of his genius in the huge backlog of companies begging him to come consult for them, offering small fortunes. And when he picks a job, they both get a first class trip with every luxury while Rodney solves complex design problems - John still just along for the ride. I enjoy Rodney's characterisation in the fic - he's very confident and competent, an old hand at the consulting engineer lark. John's a bit surprised and definitely finds it hot. Then, as the plot thickens and the bad guys arrive, John stops being a sidekick and comes into his own, taking out a troop of villains almost single-handed, with Rodney on tech support. It's enormously enjoyable, John snarking about being Rodney's arm candy is hilarious, and Reg McGraw, the butler/manager at the consulting gig, is wonderfully hyper-competent. The podfic's an excellent listen, very much one of my comfort podfics and on regular rotation.

Theme: Competence, Crossovers & fusions, Epic works, AU: Fork in the road, Sentinel AU, Big bangs

Summary: Nearly all of his life, Tony DiNozzo had known that he was only weakly latent and would probably never come online. As he's comfortable with himself and not terribly interested in change, it comes as a shock when an intimate moment during a sexcation with an old friend turns his life on its head. Out of the blue, his sleeping potential awakens ... and immediately draws the attention of the Alpha Prime Pair of North America. From there on out, it's one surprise after another for Tony, not all of them good, and he has to decide whether going through with his emergence is worth the promise of finding something beautiful on the horizon.

Reccer's Notes: When Tony DiNozzo starts to emerge as a guide, he's not just strong... he's so ridiculously powerful that his mental connections can stretch to another galaxy, and he's able to do things that astound his teacher, Blair Sandburg. This is a stellar (sorry!) story of personal growth and discovery, very Tony-centric as he tackles his new abilities with his typical competence. Sentinel and Stargate characters are in strong, but definitely secondary roles. But it's fun and totally absorbing, high up on my list of stories worth reading again.

Summary: A slap in the face and access to his inheritance changes Tony's life.

Reccer's Notes: The setup is in the summary -- although the face-slap is accidental, it’s Tony’s last straw. With his newly-gained inheritance, Tony quits NCIS, sets himself on another life-path, and begins rediscovering facets of himself that he’d let languish under the pressure of working at NCIS / living up to Gibbs’s expectations. We see a competent!Tony who’s expanding himself and learning to actually enjoy life instead of just going through the motions.
