Theme: Outsider POV
Summary:

Someone is copying homeless people in East LA.

Student-reporter Guero Valdez is on the case.

Reccer's Notes:
Word on the Street is an immersive fic from the point of view of a minor antagonist from the All-New Ghost Rider comics, shortly after the events of the second half of the original run. Guero Valdez has a very cynical worldview at this point, which shows through in the narration and dialogue, but you can feel the way his community works and how despite everything, he does care about East Los and its people. Overall, this is a great outsider POV oneshot with a mystery/thriller vibe to it!

Content Notes:
-Discussion of drug use
-Depictions of gang violence
-Ableist behavior
-Swearing
-Mild body horror

Summary: It was the first time she'd allowed herself to imagine them. Sam and her son.

Reccer's Notes: This is such a gorgeous, subtly-written fic, perfectly painting a picture of all the little mundane things the three get up to on this holiday in Florida, but with so much more going on beneath the surface. Miriam (Josh's mother) is such a well-rounded character with her own life and thoughts and biases, not always a reliable narrator either of Sam and Josh or even herself. And that's what I maybe love most about this fic: its depiction of a much more quiet and complicated form of homophobia, far from the anger and bluster we usually encounter in fiction. Miriam is flawed, but her position is represented with nuance and sympathy, and she, too, is capable of change.

Summary: A look at those left behind when Atlantis broke from Earth. How do you return to a mold that no longer fits?

Reccer's Notes: I'm only reccing this part of the larger series; all you really have to know about the series is that some members of the Atlantis Expedition are back on Earth, and their relationships and priorities look really weird to people who don't know what they've been through together.
